Delete a site, or close your account

You can delete a single site, or close the whole account, without emailing anyone. Both controls are deliberately at the bottom of the page, behind a confirmation you have to type by hand, because neither can be undone.

Before you delete anything#

Ask which of these you actually want:

• Stop paying, keep everything. Cancel the subscription. The site stays live until the end of the month you have paid for, then comes offline, and your pages, photos and leads stay saved. See cancelling.
• Off the internet for a while. Hide the site. Nothing is deleted and one click puts it back. See taking your site offline.
• Gone for good. Then read on.

Delete one site#

1. Sign in and open that site from your dashboard.
2. At the bottom, open "Your data — download a copy, or delete this site".
3. Take the download first, unless you are certain you want none of it.
4. Under "Delete this site for good", type the site's name exactly as shown — the box tells you what to type, and will not accept anything else.
5. Tap "Delete this site for good".

Its pages, photos and web address are removed and cannot be brought back. Every quote request that site received is deleted with it. If the site was on a paid plan, the subscription is cancelled and there are no further charges. Your records of past payments stay with Stripe, our card processor, because the law requires them to keep those. Any other site on your account is untouched.

Close the whole account#

1. Sign in and go to your dashboard — the list of your sites.
2. At the very bottom, open "Delete my account and everything in it".
3. Type your own email address to confirm, then tap "Delete my account for good".

Every site you own goes, along with every photo, every web address and every quote request. Any subscription is cancelled, so there are no further charges. Your sign-in is removed, which means the email link you used to get in stops working. Payment records stay with Stripe as the law requires; everything else is gone within minutes.

Starting again later#

Nothing stops you coming back — but you are starting from scratch. There is no restore, no archive and no grace period, so a new site would be built fresh from the builder. If you kept the data file, whoever builds your next site can lift your words straight out of it.
