Your first week after going live
Eight steps that put a new roofing site in front of homeowners: your Google Business Profile, the link, a domain, real photos, your towns, and reviews.
Publishing your site is the start, not the finish. Search engines take time to notice a new site, so the best thing you can do in week one is put your link where people already look for you. Here is the order we recommend.
- Open your dashboard, find your site, and tap "Use the classic editor" under the "Edit" button. Scroll to the "Get found on Google" card. It has five steps with pre-filled text and a "Copy" button beside each block.
- Step 1 of that card: tap "Open Google Business Profile ↗" to claim or create your free Google listing. Use the exact business name, city and phone number shown on the card. Paste the pre-filled description, then edit it so it sounds like you.
- Step 2: put your site link in the profile's "Website" field. The card shows your exact web address with a "Copy" button.
- Share the same link on your Facebook page, your trucks, yard signs and business cards. To link your site back to Facebook, open "Edit", tap "Settings", and paste your page address into "Facebook" under "Social links".
- Ask for your own web address. In "Settings", find the "Custom domain" card. If you already own a domain, type it under "Your domain" and tap "Connect". If you don't, use "Find a domain" and "Search", then pick one. If searching isn't offered, type the name you'd like and tap "Request it". A domain is included in your $49/mo. See Get a web address from us (included in your plan).
- Swap the stock photos for your own. Open your site from the dashboard ("View", or "Preview" while it's still a draft). In the small white bar at the bottom-left tap "Edit", then tap "Change hero photo" or "Change photo" on the picture you want to swap. (In the editor you can also tap the top section and use "Replace photo" under "Background photo".) In the editor, tap a photo gallery: each stock photo has a "Remove" link, and the "Add more photos" button (it reads "Upload photos" once the gallery is empty) adds your own. Real finished jobs, your crew and your truck beat stock every time.
- Add the towns you serve. Back in the editor ("Edit" on your dashboard), tap "Pages", find the "Service areas" card, type a town under "City / town" and tap "Add city". We write that town's page for you the first time you add it. A site can hold up to 25 town pages, and a town you've removed still counts toward that until you delete it for good.
- Back in the "Get found on Google" card, use the pre-filled review message (Step 5) to text three recent happy customers and ask for a Google review.
What happens next: the moment you publish, your whole site opens up to search engines, and your roofpropage.com address is added to our sitemap within the hour (once you're on your own domain, your domain's own sitemap takes over), so nothing is hidden. We don't connect to your Google account or post anything for you; the card is a guide and you do the clicking. Every quote request from your site lands in your inbox and in your dashboard. See Where your leads go (email, dashboard, and the Monday summary).
