Fix lead alert emails that aren't arriving
What "Lead alerts failing" means, how alerts re-route when an address bounces, how to change the address, and what to check when nothing shows up.
Lead alerts only help if they reach you. Here is how to tell when they aren't, and how to fix it.
"Lead alerts failing" on your dashboard#
If an alert email bounces (the mailbox refused it), we stop sending to that address. Your dashboard shows a red "Lead alerts failing" pill on that site's card, and the editor shows a red banner: "Your new-lead alerts aren't being delivered to [address]." While it's broken, alerts re-route on their own: if another address on your list still works, they go there; if every address you chose is dead, they go to the email you sign in with. The lead itself is never lost — it's always in your dashboard.
- Click "Lead alerts failing". It opens the editor with a red banner at the top. Tap "Update your notification email" in that banner — it switches to the "Settings" tab and puts the cursor in "Notification email(s)". (Or tap "Settings" yourself.)
- In "Notification email(s)", remove the dead address and enter one that works. If the field was blank, the address that bounced is the one you sign in with — type a different, working address into the field (leaving it blank keeps pointing alerts at the dead one, and until you do, no alert can go out at all).
- Wait for "All changes saved". The warning clears once the bounced address is no longer one of the addresses we'd send to.
Changing the address any other time#
Same place: dashboard → "Edit" → "Settings" → "Lead notifications". Up to 5 addresses separated by commas; blank means the email you sign in with. Details in Where your leads go.
Check spam and promotions#
Search your mailbox for "New lead from" — every alert subject starts that way. If one is in spam or a promotions tab, mark it "not spam" and add the sender — leads@roofpropage.com — to your contacts so the next one lands in your inbox.
If nothing arrives at all#
- Confirm the site is live. A draft site has no working form — where the form would be, visitors see "This site is a preview. Publish it to start receiving leads." (If a live site's payment has lapsed, the form instead says "This site isn't accepting messages right now." when they hit send — see Payment failed.)
- Open the "Leads" list on your dashboard. If the lead is there but no email came, the problem is the address or your spam filter, not the form.
- Check the address under "Settings" for typos. The field refuses a broken address with "Enter valid email addresses separated by commas, or leave it blank."
- Send yourself a test: fill in your own site's form with your real phone number. It appears in your dashboard, and the alert should follow shortly.
What happens next: once a working address is saved, the next alert goes there, the red pill and banner disappear, and any alerts missed in the last couple of days are re-sent by the daily sweep.
